Alex Ribeiro first earned a spot on the 2016 CT season by finishing in 7th place on the 2015 on the QS. However, the goofyfooter’s time at the top was shortlived. Having endured a frustrating start to the season, his first CT heat win didn’t come until August, Ribeiro dropped off the CT and had a few years battling for qualification. The start of 2019, however, saw a new, focused and a fit Ribeiro and an early win in The Burton Automotive Pro in Newcastle set him up for the rest of the year. A Semifinal at the Vans US Open of Surfing solidified a grasp on qualification that he never let go. With his air game still world-class, the support of the army of Brazilians on tour and lessons learned from his first foray on the CT, Ribeiro will be looking to make more of a mark at the elite level.
